Short Personal Bio: Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm going into my senior year here at Edgewood. Over the past three years I have became a part of a lot of things here at Edgewood! I am currently an ambassador with the Admissions Office (which means I give you tours!) and I really like this job because it allows me to tell you all the wonderful things about Edgewood because truly its a great place to be! On top of that I also am a study abroad ambassador which means I go and promote study abroad on campus! I also have two on campus jobs right now and I really enjoy them a lot and I have learned so much from them also! Overall, I enjoy all the things I have done here at Edgewood and will continue to do for the rest of my time here! I think Edgewood is an amazing place and I'm excited to be able to show you our campus, tell you all about Edgewood, and share all my experiences with you! I look forward to meeting you all and giving you an amazing tour!
What do you love about being a student at Edgewood College?
I think everything about Edgewood is great, but what I do like the most is that
your not just a number here. People really do take time to get to know you! I also
would have to say the faculty and staff here are super amazing! Your professors
really care about you and they want you to succeed which I really see as an added
bonus because sometimes you find theres a teacher thats just there to teach but
here its opposite, they are here to make sure you are getting a good education
while at the same time they are here to help support you too!
Why do you love living in Madison (favorite thing to do)
I love Madiso because its just a great city. I grew up in the area and I find there
is a lot going on all over Madison all the time so its never boring or dull around
here. On top of that there is so much to go see and do around here and most of it
is really close to Edgewood. For example, Badger Football games are only like
4 blocks away!
Favorite residence hall…why?
Weber Hall would have to be my favorite for the reason that I love living in
the apartments! Its a great way to feel a little more independence then what
one of the other Residence Halls can give you while still living right on the
campus. I just really enjoy the apartment style and while this is only an option
for upperclassman, its still something you can consider for later!
Favorite part of tour?
I really like showing off our dorms I mean after all, it's where you
will be living during your time here! Really though, I do enjoy the whole tour!
Favorite class…why?
I have enjoyed pretty much all of my classes! I cant say that there is one
class I enjoyed the most. I think if I really had to pick I would tell you
that the Education Classes here are really good. I have gained a lot of
valuable insights and experiences from them all and they are super awesome!
How has Edgewood College prepared you for the “real world”
I think this ties in with my education classes in that through them we have
lots of required hours to go out to schools and observe teachers and classrooms
and this really puts you in the heart of what you will be doing a few years
from now and thats really awesome to be able to get the hands on experiences
that you need to know that something is indeed the right fit for you! So I
really like the hands on experiences that they give you and through all of
them I have been so fortunate enough to be able to meet amazing teachers and
gain such awesome experiences to help me become the best teacher I can be!
Advice you would give a prospective student during their college
search, based on your experience?
I would have to tell you the best advice when looking for a school is to
really just ask questions. Any question you have is important and valuable
to you and your decisions. You might think its a silly question or that
others might think it is but really just ask, ask, ask! It very well might
be the determining factor to your choices in picking a school! I think the
other little bit of advice I can tell you is to really just pick a school
that really best fits you and your needs! Those two are the most important
things I remember as a senior in high school looking at other schools.
