Madison, Wis. (October 11, 2011) - Edgewood College joined with 32 other leading institutions on Monday to launch the Billion Dollar Green Challenge. The goal is to invest a cumulative total of one billion dollars in self-managed green revolving funds that finance energy efficiency upgrades on campus. As part of the Founding Circle, Edgewood College has the distinction of being one of only two institutions in Wisconsin to take the lead in making this commitment. The Challenge is inspired by the exceptional performance of existing green revolving funds, which have a median annual return on investment of 32%, as documented by Greening The Bottom Line, a report published by the Sustainable Endowments Institute. Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, is also a part of the Founding Circle. A bright spot in a rocky economy, these profitable investments are helping create green jobs in campus communities, while lowering operating costs on...

Madison, Wis. (September 12, 2011) - Edgewood College, with the student art organization GESWERK, hosts 'Windows of Worlds.' This city-wide art endeavor in designed to expose the power of collaborative creativity when exercised in the community. Students from the College, and from area highs schools, have been given the curious chance to define themselves through the creative viewpoint of a picture frame. These 'Windows' are on display on campus this week.
These frames, each uniquely designed, are hung with fishing line from the beautiful fall-colored trees of campus, giving the surreal impression that these windows are floating. The 'windows' are a gallery in motion, swaying as limitless proof to the possibilities of what the community can collectively accomplish through art. The work offers an opportunity to see the world in a different way, peering through the 'window' of someone other than ourselves.
A special celebration will be held from Noon-8:00 pm, Saturday, September 17, on...

Madison, Wis. (September 8, 2011) - The Edgewood College Student Nurses Association, accompanied by faculty members of the School of Nursing at the College, will be staffing a "Run Aid Station" for the Madison Ironman race on Sunday, September 11th. The racers will not be the only folks who benefit from their efforts.
Since the students will "captain" the station, they'll be awarded $750.00 to make a charitable donation. The Student Nurses Association has earmarked these funds to go to supplies for the Meriter Health Program - a health service provided to Madison's homeless population. Nursing students from the College regularly volunteer for that service.
"This is an excellent demonstration of how we practice our College values of Partnership, Community, and Compassion," said Barb Gallogly, faculty member with the School of Nursing.
"Our students excel at taking their work from the classroom to the community. That's just one part of what makes our students so special."

Madison, Wis. (August 17, 2011) - This year's freshman class arrives Saturday, August 20, and when they do they'll become the most diverse group of incoming students the College has welcomed. Nearly twenty percent of this year's class self-identify as students of color. And this year's group continues a trend of a rising academic profile. "We're honored that students and their families continue to tour our campus, meet with faculty, talk with current students, and realize this is the right fit for them," said Christine Benedict, Director of Undergraduate Admissions. "These young people recognize the opportunities we offer to connect learning in the classroom with what's happening in our world. And more and more, they see that we are a place that welcomes all students who reflect the communities we serve." While Wisconsin students continue to comprise the majority of freshmen, the class of 2015 also includes students from Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Oregon and California. About Edgewood...
