In order to meet the needs and expectations of our students, and the Greater Madison community, the College is building a new 44,000-square-foot, three-story Visual & Theatre Arts Center.
The new Center will be home to:
- Studio Space dedicated to graphic design, drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, advanced web design, animation and multi-media.
- A specialized laboratory-learning classroom with adjacent meeting room for Art Therapy and Art Education programming.
- New theatre education and performance space. Designs allow for multiple configurations of this educational space such as for rehearsals and other co-curricular activities. Included will be dedicated areas for costuming, set construction, storage, and dressing rooms. This classroom will also serve as a "black box" performance space.
- A professional, well-lit, climate controlled Art Gallery, with additional public spaces for students to exhibit work.
The site for the new Center is on the southwest side of campus, overlooking Lake Wingra.
The College will pursue LEED® certification for the new facility, reflecting our continuing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
