CTELL –Connecting Teachers to English Language Learners

A unique, online, scholarship-supported professional development program for any educator (K -12 Education and Adult Education) who wishes to develop better skills and strategies for creating successful learning environments for their students learning English.

CTELL is the perfect opportunity for any educator in Wisconsin who works with ELLs and hopes to improve their instructional practice and their educational program.  Supported through a 1.5 million dollar federal grant through the Office of English Language Acquisition, Edgewood College’s CTELL Program offers scholarship-supported tuition opportunities for participation in a professional development sequence consisting of two three-graduate credit courses beginning in June 2013.

• Unique cohort-based format for instruction, focused on allowing educators at every learning level the chance to learn with others who deal with their unique challenges
• Instruction presented in one face-to-face meeting at Edgewood College in Madison, WI, on Saturday, June 22, 2013, with the remainder as a complete on-line version to meet the scheduling needs of educators from around the state of Wisconsin
• Teams of educators are encouraged to apply together in order to truly impact instruction and content in your particular educational context
• Additional scholarship support may be available for K-12 educators wishing to apply these courses toward an ESL or bilingual license.

In the knowledge economy of the 21st century, English language skills are essential to the academic and career success of anyone who seeks a place in our emerging economy.   Any educator who works with ELLs, whether in the K-12 educational environment or the multiple learning contexts for adults, should take advantage of this unique professional development opportunity.
