Health Systems Management Graduate Certificate

Designed in close collaboration with The School of Nursing at Edgewood College and local healthcare system experts, and based on the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) competency criteria, the Health Systems Management Certificate prepares future executives to make a meaningful difference in a wide range of healthcare delivery and financing organizations. In addition to administrative managers, the program is well suited for physicians, pharmacists and other clinicians, lawyers and accounting professionals serving health system clients.

To earn the Health Systems Management Graduate Certificate students will complete at least 15 credits from the courses listed below. Graduate Certificate credits may be applied toward the MBA in Health Systems Leadership if you decide later to pursue that degree. 

Required Certificate Courses

  • BUS 775 Managerial Health Economics  (3 credits)
  • BUS 784 Health Finance  (3 credits)
  • BUS 785 Health Policy and Law  (3 credits)
  • BUS 787 Health System Operations  (3 credits)   

Choose 1 Elective from the following:

  • BUS 730 Strategic Marketing for Healthcare  (3 credits)
  • BUS 786 ERP in Health Systems  (3 credits)
  • BUS 788 Health Insurance Principles  (3 credits)
  • BUS 789 Healthcare Service and Clinical Quality  (3 credits) 

Total Credits to earn Certificate: 15 


Certificate Prerequisites

The applicant must demonstrate mastery of prerequisites including Bus 500 A and B, Algebra Review; Bus 503, Business Statistics; and Bus 506, Micro-Economics. This can be shown with a passing grade in prior course work at Edgewood or a regionally accredited college or university
