The Family Center

The Family Center is an outreach service of Edgewood College. The Center provides high quality, affordable therapy for individuals, couples and families.

Appointments are available during the day, but also in the evening and on Saturday mornings.

As the training center for Edgewood College's Marriage and Family Therapy Program, the Center provides advanced training to students and clinicians. The Center helps fulfill the mission of the College by offering service to people who may have difficulty accessing therapy from other care providers.

We believe in respecting and supporting diversity and seek to provide services to all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religious background.

The Family Center provides services to individuals, couples, families and groups for a wide variety of concerns or issues, including:

• Relationship/marital issues
• Coping with stress
• Anxiety and depression
• Parent/child issues
• Grief and loss
• Sexual concerns
• Difficulty communicating
• Life crises and transitions
• School or work problems
• Sexual identity/comfort issues
• Eating disorders
• Alcohol or drug abuse

The cost of care provided is based on a sliding scale based on the annual income of the patient. We do accept some insurance as well as Medical Assistance, but we request that payment be made at the end of each session. Fee arrangements can be made with a clinician in cases of financial hardship. We will not deny service to anyone for financial reasons. 

Our staff of clinicians and graduate interns has been trained in the family systems approach. This means that we believe problems are best understood in the full context of everything a person faces. Our staff will help you examine the many factors that contribute to the issues you are experiencing.

Services are offered by second-year graduate students and pre-licensed professionals working with and under the supervision of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and AAMFT Approved Supervisors.
