MS-Nursing Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, applicants must provide all of the following items. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the School of Nursing for admission consideration.

  1. Provide evidence of a baccalaureate or more advanced degree from a nursing program accredited by a national nursing accreditation body with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for regular admission status. (The cumulative grade point average is computed on the highest degree held at the time of application to the Edgewood College graduate program).
  2. Complete and submit graduate application (including $30 fee).This application is for graduate students who want to pursue a Master’s degree, certificate, or take courses as a non-degree student. 
  3. Request official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate academic credits be sent directly to Graduate and Professional Studies Admissions.
  4. Provide two letters of recommendation from nursing supervisors and/or colleagues who can comment on your qualifications for success in graduate school.
  5. Submit a written statement, no more than 500 words, addressing your ambition to be admitted specifically into Edgewood College’s MSN program.  Please comment on your past educational and professional experiences that will foster your growth and success in this program.

  6. Hold a current WI license as a registered professional nurse.
  7. Completion of an undergraduate course in statistics within the past three years (If longer, course may be taken prior to NRS 660).

Health Requirements

Before entering the nursing practicum (NRS 735), students must provide evidence of meeting the School of Nursing health requirements.

Background Check

Students must complete Background Information Disclosure forms before entry into the Nursing Practicum (NRS 735). Students are responsible for the costs incurred.

TRANSFER CREDITS

Upon regular admission, an applicant may submit up to 12 semester hours of graduate credit from other United States regionally accredited (or equivalent) post-secondary institutions for consideration of transfer to Edgewood College for application to a degree program. Approval of the respective department is required. To be considered for application to a degree program, a course must have been taken within the past five years, must have a "B" or better grade for courses receiving a letter grade of  "A" through  "F" (if the grade is "P" the equivalency is determined by the appropriate school or department), must be relevant to the degree program to which it is being applied, and must not have been applied toward another degree. Grades from transfer courses are not computed in the Edgewood College GPA. The transfer of credits for the Studies in Change or Ethics interdisciplinary components requires approval of the Graduate Council IC Subcommittee.
