Luke 1:46-56. And Mary said: “My soul proclaims your greatness, O my God; my spirit rejoices in you, my savior. For you have looked upon your handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. For you, who are Mighty, have done great things for me, and holy is your name.”
| I often wish
I could gaze upon the beauty of God with such honor, awe and appreciation as
Mary does. Instead I find myself wrapped up in other things, overwhelmed with
the task list in front of me. My heart longs to rest in the greatness of God,
in the true gift of this season – in the birth of Jesus. Can we take some
time this day to simply praise God for this gift, allow our spirit to rejoice
in the beauty of this time? Can we look with appreciation on this season spent
with friends and loved ones? And can we give glory where glory is due for this
most amazing moment of history that we celebrate? As we get closer to Christmas Day may we all take a few moments to truly stop, rest and proclaim the greatness and Glory of God in the same way that Mary did. - Tasha Havercamp, Edgewood College Minister |
