Jeremiah 17:5-10. Blessed is the one who trusts in God, whose hope is God. That person is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream: it fears not the heat when it comes, its leaves stay green; in the year of drought it shows no distress, but still bears fruit.
| After months
of cold and dark, this part of the world eagerly awaits winter’s end. Who
doesn’t welcome the thought of green buds, gentle breezes and free-flowing creeks? As the seasons of our lives come and go, however, we are not guaranteed idyllic conditions – in nature, the world, our relationships, academic or professional lives. Unforeseen challenges come our way. The prophet Jeremiah, naming human experience, encourages us to trust our Divine Source, to live more deeply, to reach toward what will sustain us, promising that it will make a difference. - Mary Klink, Director of College Ministries |
