Psalm 102:2-3, 16-21. God confronts the evildoers, to destroy remembrance of them from the earth...God is close to the brokenhearted; and those who are crushed in spirit God saves. Many are the troubles of the just, but out of them all God delivers them.
| What a strong
contrast from a powerful God. God confronts evildoers to destroy and yet is
close to the brokenhearted to save. This makes me think, “What makes one person
an evildoer and another brokenhearted? What will God do with me?” The answer is
a personal one that requires reflection, honesty and humility for every
individual. As I look back at my life, it seems I’ve experienced being brokenhearted, crushed, and distressed. It’s not a life I would wish on anyone, yet to be honest, it is not a life I would trade with anyone either. Through those events that have broken my heart, the closeness of God has become real and the desire to take refuge in God grows. So as we individually, nationally, and globally enter uncertain times, reflect on the promise of what God does with the brokenhearted – it is a good thing. - Carrie Griffin, Administrative Assistant, Advancement Office |
