Deuteronomy 30:15-20. Today I have set before you life and prosperity, death and doom. If you obey the commandments of your God, God will bless you in the land you are entering to occupy.
| Here Moses is
directly addressing his chosen people, telling them the challenge God has
planned for them. Following his teaching and obeying God’s laws will lead
to all the riches God had promised the chosen people. This message, to me,
has a direct correlation with Jesus’ teachings of loving, kindness and
above all forgiveness. Hand in hand these two teachings, Moses’ message
and Jesus’ life example, are the foundation of what the Catholic faith has
taught me throughout my life, that living one’s life with compassion, love,
understanding and forgiveness towards all people will be redeemed with true
