President, Edgewood College
Dr. Daniel (Dan) J. Carey currently serves as President of Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. He earned his B.A. degree from Benedictine College with a major in English, and a minor in philosophy and education. He received an M.A. in Psychology, Counseling and Guidance from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and his Ph.D. in Student Personnel Administration from the same institution in 1975. As part of his postdoctoral studies, Dr. Carey attended Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management in 1986. He was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study and observe educational developments and international education in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1995.
Carey served as Vice President at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas for eleven years and with St. Louis University in Missouri for three years. He served for nine years as the President of Benedictine College, his alma mater. Dr. Carey currently serves as Board Chair for the National Association of Independent Colleges, and previously served on the national board for the Council of Independent Colleges.
His wife, Terri, has a Master's in Reading and has served as librarian and reading specialist. They have two sons, Christopher and Matthew.
