Madison, Wis. (December 9, 2013) – Edgewood College Professor Denis Collins recently launched a MOOC (massive open online course) covering his area of expertise: business ethics.
“My mission with this project is to help as many managers as possible create high integrity organizations,” Collins said. “The MOOC teaches managers, business leaders and corporate trainers how to design ethical organizations. The series is based upon the ninety ‘best practices’ in Business Ethics for managing an organization.” The MOOC is designed according to the Optimal Ethics Systems Model that Collins discusses in his last two books.
Topics included in the series of videos are how to create and manage a code of ethics, ethical decision-making, ethics training, employee empowerment, environmental management and corporate citizenship.
Assessment tools are provided in these training videos, so employees and managers may benchmark the ethical performance of their own organization, according to the ninety best practices. After assessment, managers are better positioned to continuously improve their organization’s ethical performance. Research has shown that ethical organizations financially outperform unethical organizations, and attract ethical and loyal employees, suppliers, and customers, Collins said.
According to Collins, this is currently the only online course that provides the step-by-step blueprint for exactly how to create an ethical organization.
