Edgewood offers alternative ways to obtain credit for prior learning.
Edgewood College accepts nationally standardized proficiency exams such as CLEP and DSST. Proficiency exams are available for both general education and major requirements. The exams are administered on Edgewood’s Monroe Street campus several times a year. Exams may also be taken at Pearson Professional Center in Madison through Excelsior College and the results can be sent to Edgewood. To register for an exam through Excelsior College, contact 1-888-723-9267.
If students want to receive credit for a specific general education or major requirement that is not covered by a standardized test, they may develop a portfolio. Portfolios are developed under the supervision of the Credit for Prior Learning Office and have a standardized format.
