All candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. The degree can be in any field of study. All candidates must have a current CNA certification, license in hand. Candidates must meet minimum GPA requirements. Students are required to have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in their required math and science courses. Priority will be given to students with a GPA of 3.0 and higher.
Required courses, or their equivalent, include: • Mathematics 111 (College algebra) • Chemistry 110 and 111 • Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 • Microbiology • Life Span Development (must cover from birth through aging) • Foreign Language – 2 full years of High School Foreign Language or 2 semesters of college-level foreign language with final grades of C or better. • Religious Studies Important! - All required Mathematics and Science courses must have been completed within five years prior to admission unless these math/science courses were part of a degree earned within the last five years. Courses that do not fit this criteria will not be accepted. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.

Yes. Apply to Edgewood's undergrad program as a post-baccalaureate, non-degree student by applying online at -www.edgewood.edu. Once your prerequisites are completed, you will then be able to apply to the accelerated nursing program.
Yes, as long as the school is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the courses are considered equivalent to the required courses at Edgewood College.
Applicants who successfully submit ALL application materials and meet minimum admission requirements will be contacted by the School of Nursing to schedule a Faculty Interview and a Writing Sample Session. Faculty Interviews and Writing Sample Sessions are scheduled three times per year: Admission Cycle Dates: January 15th March 15th May 15th The cycle in which applicants are reviewed is determined by the timeliness of their application. For example, if an applicant submits all required materials on March 1st, their application will be reviewed for eligibility during the March 15th admission cycle. If eligible, applicants' Faculty Interview and Writing Sample Sessions will be scheduled for a date that precedes the next admission cycle (May 15th). Applicants taking part in Faculty Interview and Writing Sample Sessions will be notified of their admission status by letter shortly after their participation in this process. An invitation to participate in the Faculty Interview and Writing Sample Session, however, does not imply admission. Please be aware that the program employs an " open until full†policy. If 21 students are accepted prior to the next admission cycle deadline, students applying after the program fills will not be considered for admission into the upcoming cohort. Once your application is complete, it will be sent to the School of Nursing for further evaluation. If selected for consideration, you will be contacted regarding an interview and writing session date. Completed applications will be reviewed according the schedule in Question #6. Admission decisions will be communicated to applicants shortly after completion of the interview and writing session.
The cost of the program for the 2011-2012 cohort is $50,730 and includes all books, assessment and clinical fees. Costs for 2012-2013 are subject to change, but normally rise between 3% and 5%.
Participation in the program is an intensive, full-time commitment. Classes are Monday through Friday. Clinical and labs will meet days, evenings and/or weekends. Because of the time required to complete the program successfully, it is expected that you will not work outside of your class studies. Nursing classes will begin in August and finish at the end of August the following year. A total of 55 credits are required to successfully complete the program.
All classes will be held at Edgewood's Deming Way Campus on Madison's westside – 1255 Deming Way. Clinical courses will be held at healthcare facilities throughout south-central Wisconsin.
The program will admit a maximum of 21 students. Admission will be highly competitive for these limited openings. Priority will be given to the most qualified applicants.
There is no waiting list for the accelerated program. If you are not accepted you may apply to the traditional program or consider re-applying to the accelerated program in the future.
