ESL/Bilingual for Experienced Teachers
As national diversity grows, so does our need for teachers with the skills to help students overcome communication barriers. Edgewood College is pleased to offer a program in English as a Second Language for experienced teachers. The 18-credit licensing program provides the tools necessary to help develop English literacy and to inspire, challenge and make a difference in the lives of thousands of English language learners and their families.

When I attended Edgewood,
it was the first time I felt like a school really knew and cared about me.
Their focus is clearly on the students, and the staff (teachers and program
administrators alike) are simply amazing. I highly recommend Edgewood
College to everyone I know. The ESL program far exceeded my expectations.
I learned so much current, relevant and valuable information, and I use it
every day in my classroom. As a new teacher, this has made a world of
difference. - Laura Seybold Bilingual Resource Teacher, Randall Elementary |
The additional 6 credits required for bilingual licensing prepares candidates to teach in a program in which English and another language are used as media of instruction during part or all of the school day.
The study of both languages and cultures are integral to the curriculum. Proficiency in a second language at an advanced low level is required.
