ESL License Completion Program Requirements

  • ED 604A Second Language Acquisition in the Content Areas
  • ED 605B Paradigms of ESL/Bilingual Education
  • ED 604F ESL Curriculum Design and Assessment
  • ED 605C ESL Program Development and Advocacy
  • ED 605A Applied Linguistics for the ELL Teacher
  • ED 693A ESL Field Experience/Student Teaching

Bilingual

  • ED 604G Bilingual Education Curriculum Design and Assessment
  • ED 694A ESL/Bilingual Field Experience/Student Teaching

The following courses are required to complete the license certification:

Master of Arts in Education Degree Requirements

Each student must complete a minimum of 33 credits to receive the Master of Arts in Education degree.

The curriculum includes the following requirements:

  • Professional education core requirements (12 credits)
  • Concentration requirements (18 credits)
  • Guided research studies (3 credits)
  • Supervised field experience, as appropriate
  • Specialized professional studies electives

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION CORE REQUIREMENTS
(12 credits; 4 courses)
Provide advanced studies in instruction, curriculum planning, educational administration, and research.

  • ED 602 Curriculum Planning
  • ED 603 Introduction to Educational Research
  • IC800 Ethics

One of the following (as appropriate for specialized studies):

  • ED 601 Foundations of Instruction
  • ED 620 Introduction to Educational Leadership and Organization

  • ED 673 Behavioral and Emotional Disorders
