EDGEWOOD COLLEGE CAN HELP
Edgewood College is uniquely suited to provide the Leadership In Sustainability Graduate Certificate Program in Sustainability because of its strong grounding in the liberal arts and in the community, and because of our Dominican heritage. The program is designed to reflect the Dominican values of Truth, Community, Partnership, Justice, and Compassion:
- Faces the truth of the ecological situation and commits to dialogue in searching for responses grounded in wisdom
- Seeks to respond with compassion to those most vulnerable to ecological and social disruption
- Supports ethical visions and practices congruent with justice
- Maximizes the interactive learning and challenges of diversity provided by community
- Works in creative partnership with a wide variety of organizations and individuals
A commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability resonates deeply at the Edgewood College. In fact, Edgewood is the first college or university in Wisconsin to be accepted into Wisconsin’s Green Tier, administered by the Department of Natural Resources.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
The Leadership In Sustainability Graduate Certificate Program follows an interdisciplinary approach framed around three aspects of sustainability – environmental quality, social justice, and economic vitality.
The curriculum is project based and will engage learners in addressing real-world issues and problems. Students will participate in a 10-day living/learning immersion, develop and implement group projects, attend monthly seminars, and create a proposal for an individual integrative community-based sustainability project.
Courses will be led by an interdisciplinary core of Edgewood College faculty with the support and participation of key community partners.
Classes meet in the evenings to accommodate busy work schedules and are led by faculty who have experience in meeting the special needs and expectations of adult learners.
The program is cohort-based. Students are immersed in a community of learners who support each other in both intellectual and personal growth.
