Where to Get Commencement Attire

Caps and Tassels
Bachelor and Master degree candidates wear black mortarboard caps with the appropriate color tassel. Bachelor of Arts degree candidates wear white tassels, Bachelor of Science degree candidates wear yellow tassels, and Master degree candidates wear black tassels. Doctoral degree candidates wear velvet tams with gold tassels. All candidates for degrees wear the tassels on the right side of the cap until the degree has been conferred.

Cords
Bachelor degree candidates will wear rope cords draped over their shoulders during the commencement ceremony. The color of the cord represents the individual’s field of study (see list below).

Hoods
Masters degree candidates will wear their hoods and Doctoral degree candidates will be hooded during the commencement ceremony. The academic hood’s size and shape represent the highest degree earned by an individual. The color and pattern of the hood’s lining represent the official colors of the institution conferring the degree. The color of the hood’s velvet trim represents the individual’s field of study (see list below)
