Dining Services (Phil's Cafeteria)

Job Description:

Cashier

  • Greet residents and guests in the dining room
  • Accurately charge customers for their purchases
  • Maintain accurate cash drawer
  • Enforce Dining Services policies
  • Check and fill soda, juice, milk, coffee, etc.
  • Check fruit for freshness and restock as needed
  • Ensure that no dishes, glassware, or flatware are taken out of the dining room
  • Be ready to answer questions or refer them to the chef on duty
  • Maintain dining room cleanliness; wiping tables and chairs
  • Clean up spills that occur in the servery
  • Fill napkin dispensers as needed
  • Restock coffee condiments as needed

Hours: Various Weekday and Weekend Shifts Available

  • Customer service orientation and skill
  • Ability to be helpful, but quick

Job Description:

Dishwasher

  • Maintain a high level of sanitation and safety.
  • Maintain clean working environment.
  • Check dishes to ensure cleanliness (Check for food particles stuck on glasses and bowls)
  • Wash glasses twice (This is very important).
  • Put all dishes away in proper order.
  • At the end of the shift, restock all dishes.
  • Use garbage disposal for food products only (No bones, paper, plastic, foil, straws, napkins, etc.).
  • Inform Chef or Manager if any equipment is not working properly.
  • Break down boxes periodically and place in cardboard bin.
  • Mop up any standing water in the mop room.
  • Put away mop and mop bucket properly.
  • Be ready to take on extra duties, i.e. weekly cleaning list.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Line Server – Grill Cook

  • Check and ice hopper on the soda machine
  • Restock burgers, chicken, veggie burgers, cheeses, and deli meats
  • Bring all utensils for service to the line
  • Make eggs and omelets to order (breakfast/brunch only)
  • Cook grilled sandwiches to order
  • Inform cook of items on line that are getting low (starch, vegetable, entrée) in a timely manner so food does not run out
  • Keep line and serving area clean at all times
  • Keep salad bar stocked and clean
  • Break down grill and empty grease pan at the end of service
  • Empty, wipeout, and refill steam wells if needed
  • Take leftovers to cook
  • Sweep and mop at the end of the shift

Job Description:

Salad/Runner

  • Keep salad bar full and appetizing throughout the shift
  • Make the salad bar presentation organized and inviting
  • Wipe down spills on and around the salad bar promptly
  • Cut vegetables, lettuce, and other salad bar items as needed
  • Wipe down tables and chairs as needed throughout the dining room
  • Place chairs in their original position in the dining room, which gives an orderly presentation
  • Help with the serving line as needed and instructed
  • Break down the salad bar at the end of service
  • Wipe down the salad bar thoroughly from top to bottom
  • Cover all salad bar items with plastic wrap, place them on the cart, and date label all items
  • Break down deli station and dessert area, wiping down thoroughly
  • Help in other areas of the dining room as needed and instructed by the Chef and Manager

Hours: Various Weekday and Weekend Shifts Available.
