Jay Blevins, MBA ‘99

students to benefit from that same quality education. Blevins benefited from Edgewood’s
MBA program returning as an adult student after working as a healthcare manager.
“Edgewood offered the best combination of reputation and flexibility allowing me to reasonably continue working full- time, keep up with class work and still have some free time,” he says. “I also really liked the small campus and personal attention of faculty and staff.”
After graduating, Blevins became a Commercial Real Estate Broker and joined his wife’s company, Gelbach Commercial Real Estate. He later launched www.propertydrive.com, an on-line commercial real estate listing service where he estimates 85-90% of real estate professionals in the Madison area list their commercial properties and is rapidly expanding around the state.
Blevins says today, some people he met through the MBA program are his good friends. Looking back, he says it was learning from those friends and fellow students that made his experience so great. “I think I got the most out of interacting with other students that had significant real world experience in many different fields,” he says.
Blevins now sits on the college’s Business Advisory Board that helps shape the business curriculum. He says it made sense to give back to the place that had given him so much, great friends and the dream of starting his own business. “I believe it is important to our community to have more people with quality educations. It enhances life for all of us by improving the arts, the economy and more.”
