Meet Viet
First of all, I am honored to receive your support. I wish to express my deepest
gratitude for your generosity and for looking out for students, such as myself, who are
in financial need. Without a doubt, this award will prove to be extremely valuable by
allowing me to spend more time on my study and school works related. Therefore, helping
to reduce the financial burdens of pursuing a degree in Religious Studies at Edgewood College.
Second of all, I live in Madison Wisconsin, where my family and I immigrated to about 11 years ago. I’ve attended Velma Hamilton Middle School and West High School. I have a younger sister, who currently attends elementary school in Madison. Both my parents are self-employed. My father is a watch repairer and my mother runs a small catering business. My parents have always stressed the importance of education and the value of a college degree. The main reason I chose Edgewood College is because they employ the Dominican values of truth, compassion, justice, community and partnership. In which, I believe will definitely create a wonderful college experience for me.
Third of all, as I mentioned above, I’m pursuing a degree in Religious Studies with a concentration in pre-theological studies. I love the small classrooms and the one-on-one attention of instructors at Edgewood College.
Fourth of all, I intend to achieve the highest grade point average as I can while at Edgewood College. Upon graduation from Edgewood College, I wish to enter the missionary priesthood order. A degree from Edgewood College will help me make that dream a reality.
Once again, I want to express thanks for your generosity and kind spirit in funding this scholarship, which has provided support and encouragement for both me family and me. I hope to become an individual that makes you proud, epitomizing all of the values that you stand for.
