INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 27, 2005) – The NCAA Division III men’s and women’s basketball committees announced Sunday the pairings for the 2005 championships. First round action will begin on the women’s side with Edgewood College (21-7) traveling to UW-Stout (22-6) on Wednesday, Mar. 2. The Eagle men (17-9) are headed to Buena Vista University (25-3) for a first-round contest on Thursday, Mar. 3.

Game time for the women’s matchup at Johnson Fieldhouse, located on the campus of UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wis., has yet to be determined. The men are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Siebens Fieldhouse in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Both the Edgewood College men’s and women’s basketball teams earned automatic bids into the national tournament by winning their respective Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) Tournament championships on Saturday, Feb. 26.

The Eagle women defeated Lakeland College, 72-64, in the LMC title game to garner their first-ever NCAA Division III tournament berth. UW-Stout received an automatic bid into the women’s 50-team national field by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament title. The Blue Devils are making their seventh trip to the NCAA tourney.
