Nearly 8,000 people competed in the 8-kilometer run, which meanders through the streets of downtown Madison, WI every spring.

"I was pleased with the way I ran," said Brewster. "It’s really an amazing event. The crowd was into it, the competition was great, and it was fun to be a part of that. Plus, it was an opportunity to be involved in what has become a Madison tradition."

Brewster led the entire race and completed the course in 28 minutes, 27 seconds to dethrone two-time defending champion Molly McClimon Watcke.

A six-time All-American while at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brewster has been involved in both coaching and competitive running since graduating in 2003. Most notably, Brewster competed at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 1,500 meters and will again attempt to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

Brewster took over head coaching responsibilities of the Edgewood College men’s and women’s Cross Country programs in Fall of 2005 and later was named head coach the Track program when it was added early in 2006.
