Edgewood Students Reward Good Samaritans
|
MADISON, WI. – It's not every day that good deeds get the appreciation they deserve.
Fortunately for the good Samaritans here in Wisconsin,
the nine students in the Edgewood College course "Ethical Business Practices in Madison"
are doing something to rectify that.
The 2006 Good Samaritan Awards are a collaborative effort between the
Samaritan Counseling Center and Edgewood College. Nine
students in Professor Denis Collins'
Human Issues class developed a database of potential award winners, personally interviewed all
of the finalists, ranked them, and then presented their findings in front of
a panel of judges consisting of community leaders.
From these recommendations, the winners were selected. The focus of the 2nd Annual Good Samaritan Awards was on
mental health, and winners included members of the community
who hired and supported the mentally ill, those who had
their lives personally affected by mental illness, and
advocates for those struggling with mental illness.
To see the list of winners, and learn more, please see The Capital Times article,
"Good Samaritans Get Awards".
Thank you to Denis Collins and his students for their efforts in acknowledging community members for their
good deeds.
