Madison, Wis. (May 16, 2007) – The Edgewood College community of learners joins the world
in mourning the passing of Yolanda King.
The Student Government Association (SGA) at the College brought Ms. King to campus in
October, to present “Achieving the Dream.” Hundreds of people from the greater Madison
community attended the event, and enjoyed Ms. King’s powerful message, and engaging style.
“She was amazing,” SGA President Chris Biller said. “She touched the life of everyone who
was here that night. She emanated the power of compassion when I met her.” Biller added that,
“Even when she was finished that night, and was tired, she took the time to talk with students.”
The oldest child of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, Yolanda King
participated in numerous civil and human rights demonstrations and spoke before countless
religious, educational, civic, and human rights groups during her career.
