Professor Denis Collins |
Madison, Wis. (January 24, 2008) – Denis Collins, Professor of Business at Edgewood
College, has been appointed to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Green
Tier Advisory Committee as Advisor representing the perspectives of the Academic Community.
Professor Collins will serve a three-year term.
The Green Tier Advisors fulfill a crucial role, advising the Secretary of the Wisconsin
Department of Natural Resources on matters related to Wisconsin Act 276 – the Green Tier Law.
The Green Tier program encourages institutions and businesses to go beyond current rules
and regulations to reduce their impact on the environment.
"We are very pleased that Professor Collins accepted our invitation to serve as a Green
Tier Advisor,” Mark McDermid, Director of the Bureau of Cooperative Environmental Assistance,
said. “He brings the important perspectives of social responsibility in business as
well as the issue of sustainability.”
There are up to 16 Green Tier Advisors representing a variety of interests. One quality
common to each Advisor selected is his or her unique experience and significant expertise
that span multiple issues related to Green Tier efforts. Professor Collins’ role includes
advising on engaging Wisconsin colleges and universities in the Green Tier program.
In 2006, Edgewood College became the first college or university in Wisconsin to
receive Green Tier certification.
