Edgewood College Earns 2024-2025 Military Friendly Gold Designation

Madison, Wis. (April 3, 2024) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce that it has earned a gold ranking in the national Military Friendly® Schools list for 2024-2025. Edgewood College has been recognized as a Military Friendly School since 2009. “We are again honored to receive this recognition for 2024-2025,” Matthew J. Schroeder ’07, Director of Military and Veterans Services, said. “Our military and veteran community at Edgewood College enhances the fabric of our campus and classrooms. The institutional commitment to support them through the Office of Military & Veterans Services makes our community better for all. These awards recognize that, which for us is both humbling and gratifying.”

Distinguished Alum Named National Superintendent of the Year

Madison, Wis. (February 21, 2024) – Edgewood College celebrates the announcement of Dr. Joe Gothard ’99, MA ’04, Ed.D. ’15 as the 2024 National Superintendent of the Year by the America Association of School Administrators (AASA). Dr. Gothard is a three-time Edgewood College alum, earning his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Biology, master’s degree in Educational Administration, and his doctorate in Educational Leadership. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Edgewood College.

Dean’s List and Semester Honors Announced for Fall 2023 Semester

Madison, Wis. (January 29, 2024) - Edgewood College has named the students who have earned a place on the Dean’s List, or on the Semester Honors List, for the Fall 2023 Semester. Fulltime undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher are eligible for the Dean’s List after completing 24 credit hours of study at Edgewood College.

Edgewood College Expands Doctoral Degrees

Madison, Wis. (January 24, 2024) – Edgewood College continues to expand its doctoral degree programs with the launch this fall of the fully online Doctor of Business Administration degree (DBA). The new program joins the Doctoral Degrees in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.), and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

New Partnership with The Jed Foundation Supports Student Mental Health

Madison, Wis. (January 23, 2024) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce it has partnered with The Jed Foundation (JED) to become a JED Campus, bolstering support for student well-being and mental health. JED’s program is a nationwide initiative designed to help colleges and universities evaluate and strengthen their mental health, substance misuse, and suicide prevention programs, ensuring the students have the best possible mental health safety nets. Edgewood College joins more than 400 campuses engaged in the JED Campus program.

Henry J. Predolin Foundation Grants $925,000 for Scholarships

Madison, Wis. (December 7, 2023) – Henry J. Predolin Foundation is pleased to announce a grant of $925,000 to Edgewood College. With this grant, Edgewood College will provide approximately 135 students with Predolin Scholarships, serving all class standings, including transfer students. “Since 2008, the College has benefitted from generous grants from the late Henry Predolin through his foundation,” Andrew Manion, President of Edgewood College, said.

Dr. Joe Gothard is the 2024 Minnesota Superintendent of the Year

Madison, Wis. (October 18, 2023) - The Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA) has named Dr. Joe Gothard, ’99, MA ’04, Ed.D. ’15, Superintendent of Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS), the 2024 Minnesota Superintendent of the Year. As the Minnesota honoree, Dr. Gothard is a candidate among other state recipients for National Superintendent of the Year, to be announced in February 2024.

Polacek Honored with Marriage and Family Therapy Award

Madison, Wis. (October 17, 2023) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce that Deb Polacek, Associate Dean of Marriage and Family Therapy, has been named the 2023 Carl A. Whitaker Award honoree. Each year, the Wisconsin Association for Marriage and Family Therapy selects a mental health professional for the honor. The award is given to a Marriage and Family Therapist who has distinguished themselves by contributing to the field of Marriage and Family Therapy in creative or innovative ways.

Edgewood College Offers Innovative Answer to Teacher Shortage

Madison, Wis. (August 10, 2023) – Edgewood College is offering an innovative solution to the teacher shortage in Wisconsin, and school districts are listening. The College has launched an Accelerated Teacher Residency program in recent months, and to date more than twenty school districts, including many from Dane County, have signed on, with more on the way.

Thanatology Program Director Named ADEC Academic Educator of the Year

(July 5, 2023) – The Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) recognizes Thanatology professionals for their commitment to the field and advancing the study of dying, death, and bereavement. Janet McCord, Ph.D., F.T., received their “Academic Educator of the Year” award at the annual conference in Columbus, Ohio. The academic educator award honors an individual with expertise in the field of dying, death, and bereavement as demonstrated by advanced academic degrees, professional honors, awards, and other contributions.

Ehrhart ‘23 Blazes Path to Success
