Adjunct Instructor for Communication Studies

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Communication Studies Department at Edgewood College invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach COMMS 295: Social Media in fall 2019, with possibility for renewal. In this course, students learn how social media has changed how we do business, share information, and build influence through social networks, with special attention paid to the ethical dimensions of these practices. Learning takes place both in virtual and face-to-face environments and emphasizes hands-on experience developing online communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Teach one 3–credit course; evaluate student progress and assign grades; meet with students outside of class as needed. Instructor must adhere to established learning outcomes and may use existing course materials, but functions independently.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Communication required; Ph.D. or work toward it preferred. Must have college-level instructional experience in mediated communication/social media from a transactional perspective.

Must be active and have a track record of success in the professional application of social media platforms. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence with a focus on student learning through active and applied strategies.
