Assistant Professor of Biology (Anatomy and Physiology)


The Department of Biological Sciences at Edgewood College invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Biology to begin fall 2017. We seek a broadly-trained biologist with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research. The successful candidate will have experience teaching anatomy and physiology. Candidates with research expertise in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Pathology, or similar fields are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will teach within a two-semester sequence of Anatomy and Physiology to biology majors, pre-health professionals, and nursing students, as well as have the opportunity to develop upper-level courses that reflects their personal strengths and training. The faculty member will collaborate with undergraduates in original research in his or her field of study that provides meaningful experiences for undergraduate students. In addition, she or he will serve as an academic advisor to biology majors and minors, and contribute to Departmental and College governance and service. An ideal candidate will be capable of building collaborative relationships with peers both inside and outside the department.   • A PhD degree in the Biological Sciences with training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, or histology.
  • Experience setting up and teaching laboratory courses in Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Experience and a strong interest in teaching undergraduate students.
  • A proven track record of scientific research, and a commitment to engage undergraduate students in meaningful research experiences.
