Assistant Professor of Educational Research

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Assistant Professor of Educational Research is a 12-month, full-time tenure-track faculty position beginning in the academic year 2019-2020. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2019. This position entails teaching multiple sections of a 2-course Master’s level research sequence and collaborating with research faculty in the MA and Ed.D. programs to envision a research sequence providing MA students with strong foundations, capstone experiences, and pathways to the doctoral program in educational leadership.

Responsibilities:
Teaching graduate research courses, directing student research projects, and providing leadership for graduate level research courses and experiences.
Major duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide a vision of how authentic educational research is integrated into graduate programs in a professional School of Education at a liberal arts college.
  • Teach 24 credits of graduate level research methods courses
  • Advise graduate student research projects including interaction with the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff at the undergraduate and doctoral levels to establish curriculum continuity and a productive professional community of education research.
  • Engage in School and College-wide service by attending School of Education meetings, participating in college-wide assembly and faculty association meetings, and serving on committees.
  • Maintain a scholarly research agenda.
  • Other duties as assigned by Dean of the School of Education.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Earned doctorate, preferably in Education Research and Assessment, or in Curriculum and Instruction, Education Administration, Higher Education Leadership, Student Services, or PK- 12 Teacher Education.
  • Successful record of research and scholarship in the field of education.
  • Documented experience in teaching research methods courses.
  • Knowledge of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research designs.
  • Knowledge of research requirements for research capstone projects.
  • Knowledge of education research tools and their application to research capstone projects.
  • Experience in program evaluation and assessment.
  • Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and attend to detail.
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to advise graduate students as they design and carry out action research projects.
  • Knowledge of research ethics and the processes for submitting a proposal to an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
