Adjunct Instructor – Christian – Muslim Dialogue

Description of Job

The Religious Studies department is seeking to hire a Muslim scholar to co-teach Christian-Muslim Dialogue beginning in the Spring of 2020.  RS 358 is an experiential exploration of interfaith dialogue between Christians and Muslims, which includes the study of foundational beliefs and practices of each tradition with a special focus on the variety of cultural and intercultural contexts in which adherents practice their faith today.

Students study, witness and experience different models of interfaith dialogue as partners consider some of the ethical, theological, economic, political and practical issues dividing and uniting world-wide Muslim and Christian communities. The seminar includes participation in several community-based dialogues, observation of Christian and Muslim celebrations, student presentations and the writing of a Personal Mission Statement.
