Assistant Professor of Geology

Description of Job

The Edgewood College Chemistry, Geoscience & Physics Department seeks to fill a tenure track faculty position in Geology with a strong emphasis on environmental geology, paleo biology, hydrogeology, biogeochemistry and/or climate.  We are particularly interested in candidates whose interests and scholarship have application to environmental sciences and environmental studies programs.

The Edgewood Science Departments are heavily invested in providing field and travel experiences for our students.  Domestic and international field experiences often broadly address the natural sciences and include the study of biology and ecology as well as the geosciences.  As a liberal arts college, we prioritize excellence in teaching and are looking for a candidate with experience designing and teaching an active and engaging curriculum that appeals to both science majors and those seeking other majors and taking geoscience courses to fulfill General Education requirements and personal interest.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in an appropriate field, have a demonstrated ability to conduct research that will be of interest to Edgewood College students, be a dedicated educator and be enthusiastic about supervising undergraduate research projects.  The successful candidate will work across departments to create interesting and unique experiences for students to engage with the earth sciences.

Edgewood offers a broad array of professional development opportunities including a STEM Teaching Seminar held weekly in the natural science departments.  The Office of Science Outreach provides additional venues to bring earth science awareness to the general public.
