Institutional Data Modeling and Report Manager

Description of Job

This position is responsible for creating and maintaining the data structures necessary to fulfill the College’s institutional reporting needs. This position will develop and maintain the collection and display of information related to the common data set. They will provide reports and dashboards using Power BI, or other support data visualization tools, to help facilitate self-service reporting needs across the institution and they will curate and validate the College’s data dictionary for use in end user ad hoc reporting. This position’s duties also include using the information collected to facilitate the submission of information to outside entities involved in the federal compliance and funding activities of the college. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Common Data Set
    • Create dashboards and visuals using Power BI or vendor provided tools that allow information to be used and displayed on an ongoing basis.
      • Reporting elements include, but are not limited to: Persistence Rates, Retention Rates, Graduation Rates, Enrollment Counts, Student Demographic Information, Major and Minor Counts, and Degrees Awarded
    • Help promote the use of the Common Data Set and inform the community
      • Identify new opportunities in which data can be utilized to inform the decision-making process, answer questions, or solve problems.
      • Demonstrate ways in which information can be organized, reported, or analyzed to optimize the use of data.
      • Organize and present reports providing analysis and guidance on how to interpret and understand information shared.
    • Maintain the college’s Data Dictionary for Institutional Reporting
    • Audit reports and data for duplication, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Compliance Reporting and Submission
    • Serve as the IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) institutional Keyholder. Coordinate, collect and submit IPEDS information.
    • Manage and complete college National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) reports
    • Supply data required for NCAA Athlete Cohort, NC-SARA, Military Friendly Schools, Henry J. Predolin Foundation, Inc. Annual Grant Questionnaire, WAICU, and other annual surveys.
  • Manage college survey platform
    • Manage and coordinate data sets and permissions related to the college’s internal survey platform.
  • Manage and support tools and services used to provide reporting and analytics services to the institution.
  • Course Needs Analysis
    • Develop data model and create reports for identifying course needs to sustain College financial and enrollment goals.
  • Administrate Student Course Evaluations System for term and sub term survey collection
  • Develop and maintain a library of dashboards and reporting objects that allow self-service for ad hoc reports commonly requested by various constituents and partners across campus.
  • Manage projects to meet the needs and deadlines of the College on a timely basis.
  • Serve on committees, attend professional meetings and seminars, and provide consultative services within the College as appropriate or required. 

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Degree in Data Analytics, Data Management, or related professional experience.
  • Experience with enterprise data analysis and visualization
  • Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
  • Experience with current core technologies in use at Edgewood College:
    • Data Analysis query languages (SQL, R, Python)
    • Business Intelligence reporting languages and technologies (ETL, JavaScript, XML, Databricks (Apache Spark), etc.)
    • Automation and scripting techniques (T-SQL, PowerShell, etc.)
    • Reporting software: Appeon Infomaker, Power BI

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and coordinate with individuals from other offices to accomplish required tasks and objectives.
  • Ability to learn independently and grow in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to balance workday between multiple projects and respond immediately to support requests from staff
