Program Specialist - Outreach Coordinator

The program specialist/outreach coordinator is responsible for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral program support within the Henry Predolin School of Nursing (SoN). Primarily, the program specialist/outreach coordinator is responsible for managing the Post Baccalaureate BSN program for the SoN. Operating under the auspices of the Dean and the Dean of Undergraduate Programs, this position leads student recruitment efforts, coordinates student advising and academic services, and assists in all aspects of program planning. The incumbent must actively support the mission of the college by working with faculty, staff and students to share in our core values - truth, compassion, justice, partnership, and community.

Responsibilities

Marketing/Admissions responsibilities

  1. Develop comprehensive recruitment plan that generates a strong and diverse applicant pool of aspiring nursing students.
  2. Coordinate admission process.
  3. Serve as initial point of contact for questions for admitted students regarding nursing requirements including CNA license, uniform requirements and program schedule.
  4. Serve as intake coordinator for post-baccalaureate applications received through NursingCAS.
  5. Meet with students regarding program-specific questions.
  6. Attend recruitment events.

 

Academic responsibilities

  1. Coordinates academic activities and services within the post baccalaureate BSN program.
  2. Provides linkages in the SoN between the post baccalaureate BSN and traditional programs to promote consistency and coordination in efforts across programs.
  3. Performs advising and teaching roles as assigned.
  4. Assists Dean of Undergraduate program and Dean with fulfilling accreditation requirements.

 

Governance responsibilities

  1. Provides coordination of program planning within the PB BSN program.
  2. Communicates and coordinates effectively with faculty and staff in the program and the SoN.
  3. Serves as the program’s advocate within the SoN. 
  4. Seeks and coordinates site development for student clinical experiences.  Oversees contractual arrangements for clinical sites.
  5. Assists with recruitment, development and retention of full and part time faculty to meet clinical and theory course demands.
  6. Collaborates with the SoN Assessment Committee and Undergraduate Curriculum Committee to plan assessment activities, using data for program quality improvement.

 

   Development responsibilities

  1. Facilitates faculty and staff development efforts.
  2. Enhances visibility of the program on and off campus.
  3. Works closely with faculty/staff within the School of Nursing in tracking student retention and progress.
  4. Assists in marketing and recruitment for students/faculty for new and existing programs.

 

   Finance responsibilities

  1. Provides input into budget needs of program.

 

Personnel and supervisory responsibilities

  1. Assists Dean of Undergraduate Programs in providing faculty orientation to the program.
  2. Oversees accountability in faculty completing student health records and clinical evaluations.

 

 

 

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, or related field.

  • Experience in working with faculty development and working with administrative personnel.

      Required Knowledge and Skills

      • Possess public and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead through collaborative decision-making and ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents.
      • Successful record of leadership and accomplishment in areas such as: negotiating between faculty, students and parents with academic concerns; strategic planning; faculty leadership; curriculum design and development; administration of exemplary academic programs with success in improving educational outcomes and student retention.
      • Experience integrating communication, technology, and information resources into teaching and other operations of the college. 
      • Demonstrated success in attracting and retaining students of color and other under-represented groups.
      • Demonstrated success in attracting and retaining novice faculty, faculty of color, and other under-represented groups.
