Transfer Admissions Counselor

Description of Job

The Transfer Admissions Counselor will provide professional leadership and exemplary service to prospective students and their families. In addition to managing the transfer recruitment territory, the incumbent will provide communication and staff development to ensure efficient and effective transfer enrollment operations in partnership with the Director. The Counselor will serve as the liaison to academic departments regarding the development of customized outreach plans to better serve our transfer student population. The Counselor will work with the Director to cultivate and establish partnerships & pathways with 2-year Academic Institutions. The Counselor will report progress towards transfer enrollment goals; assist in the planning and implementation of special events, represent the admissions office on special committees and communicating with prospective students outside of normal office hours.

Responsibilities

Admissions Counseling/Advising Prospective Students and Outreach

  • Help develop plans, implement, and manage recruitment of transfer students.
  • Counsel prospective students and their families on the admissions process, financial aid, residency requirements by phone, email, and in person.
  • Represent the Admissions Office at on-campus and off-campus events and programming for prospective students. Travel will be required to colleges and various college fairs.
  • Review admission applications and follow-up with students as needed.
  • Oversee, create procedures, and coordinate admissions for special student populations (e.g. Conditionally Admitted Students).
  • Establish new territories and strategically plan new outreach opportunities for Transfer populations.
  • Assist with and create event days for Freshman and Transfer students (Eagle Enrollment Day, Admitted Students Day, Preview Day, etc.). 

Academic Review & Planning

  • Work with the Registrar’s Office to provide up-to-date transfer credit evaluations to all accepted students.
  • Provide unofficial transfer credit evaluation for prospective students.
  • Work with Transfer Academic Advisor on general education requirements, transfer policies, Registration Days.

Oversee Coordination and Development of Transfer Marketing

  • In collaboration with the Director, ensure consistency of visual image and messaging through Transfer specific materials. (e.g. print material, communication flows, web) 

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in Admissions and Enrollment Management.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and contribute as a member of the admissions team.
  • Self-directed in developing and completing projects, recruitment plans, etc.
  • Ability to work fluctuating and irregular hours including nights and weekend.
  • Must be comfortable traveling 30% of the time during peak travel seasons.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and be able to drive a College-owned vehicle for school visits and college fairs. The incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Check.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak in public to large and small groups.

Specialized Technology Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with Slate Client Relations Management System, InfoMaker, and Feith Document Database.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
