Pre-College Program Coordinator

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Edgewood College is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Program Coordinator for our new precollege initiative.  Working closely with partners across the College and in the community, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for launching a new College for Kids summer initiative; developing the infrastructure needed to support the coordination of precollege programs at Edgewood; and facilitating longer-range strategic planning to develop new initiatives.  It is expected that after two years of seed funding, the maintenance of the position as well as opportunities to expand it to full time will be dependent upon the growth and success of precollege programs at Edgewood College.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to Vice President for Enrollment Management
  • Works in close partnership with the Dean of the School of Integrative Studies and the Director of Science Outreach

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement College for Kids (CFK) Summer Program
    • Design, implement, assess, and grow new programming model for middle school students
    • Enhance partnerships with Madison Metropolitan School District, other school districts and other local youth-serving organizations to support enrollment in CFK program
    • Promote, market, and recruit for CFK program (participants, instructors, and staff)
    • Seek and secure external funding sources to support expanded CFK initiatives for an inclusive audience
    • Prepare annual report of CFK program
  • Develop Infrastructure for Precollege Programs
    • Develop shared policies and procedures such as registration, applications, forms, etc.
    • Collaborate to ensure local, state, and federal compliance guidelines are met
    • Explore integration of precollege with other Edgewood systems
    • Ensure access to health/emergency services for participants
  • Create Precollege Education Network (PEN) at Edgewood College.
    • Research, plan for, and expand precollege program offerings at Edgewood College in partnership with College and community partners
    • Convene an Advisory Board to provide vision and input on the expansion and development of precollege programs
    • Brand and market a suite of precollege programs under a Precollege Education Network umbrella

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area
  • One to three years of work experience related to job responsibilities
  • Experience working with diverse youth

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • High motivation, initiative, and strong sense of responsibility
  • Experience managing programs and/or projects
  • Experience cultivating community partnerships
  • Multicultural competence and ability to work with individuals from diverse racial and ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of individuals and offices across campus and in the community
  • Excellent time management (planning, prioritizing, and multitasking) and organizational skills

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Grant-writing experience
  • Experience working with precollege programs
