Teaching English Language Learners
By 2025, 1 in 4 students in U.S. Schools will be English Language Learners. And, in Wisconsin alone, 86% of school districts will have English Language Learners, and that number is continuing to climb. That means all teachers will likely work with students who are learning English in school. But today there is a critical shortage of teachers who are prepared to meet this growing demand.
As part of the Education program at Edgewood College, you have the option of earning a minor in Teaching English Language Learners: ESL/Bilingual Education. This minor is designed to prepare you for licensing to teach English Language learners and is attached to a licensing program such as Early Childhood: Regular Education or Middle Childhood through Adolescence: Regular Education.
