Any question, big or small, can be answered by the Dean of Students Office.
How can I Mask Up, Back Up, and Wash Up effectively on campus? Wear your mask! Masks should cover your nose and mouth and should be worn indoors in public spaces and outdoors when you can not effectively be physically distant from others. If you do not own a mask, you may purchase one in the Campus Store. Back Up: practice physical distancing by leaving 6 feet between you and others. Wash up: wash your hands often.
What should I do if I was exposed to someone with COVID-19? Report any potential exposure or symptoms to the Dean of Students Office and follow any instructions they provide to seek medical care or to quarantine.
What should I do if I see another student who isn't wearing a mask? Remember, this is the year of community. Please remind them nicely to wear their mask. We are all doing this for each other. Should you have questions, you may contact the Dean of Students Office.
How will office hours be managed? All support services are still fully available to you; some are just offered in a different way. For example:
Dear Students and Colleagues –
Back in October 2020, in one of my Updates for the fall semester, we heard from 20th century British politician Walter Elliot, who said “Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.” In that update I announced the decision to leave our Spring semester as it was scheduled pre-pandemic. Which brings us to today.
Our community has earned this break, which is now upon us. Through the challenges and the protocols, the technology quirks and ever-present screens, you have persevered – we have won many short races, one after the other. For that I am profoundly grateful.
Many of us will get a break over the next several days, even as many of us will continue the work of the College keeping offices and services operating. Some of our students will travel, and some will remain on campus and in Madison. Whatever you schedule holds for the next week or so, please remember that this Spring Break is possible because of your dedication, your willingness to adjust and sacrifice, your commitment to our community. Also remember that the pandemic is not over. We must continue to be vigilant in our efforts to avoid contracting and spreading COVID-19.
Be well and be safe. Wear your mask, and keep your circles tight. Let’s keep going, and remember that we do all this for each other.
