Madison, Wis. (August 17, 2011) - This year's freshman class arrives Saturday, August 20, and when they do they'll become the most diverse group of incoming students the College has welcomed. Nearly twenty percent of this year's class self-identify as students of color. And this year's group continues a trend of a rising academic profile.
"We're honored that students and their families continue to tour our campus, meet with faculty, talk with current students, and realize this is the right fit for them," said Christine Benedict, Director of Undergraduate Admissions. "These young people recognize the opportunities we offer to connect learning in the classroom with what's happening in our world. And more and more, they see that we are a place that welcomes all students who reflect the communities we serve."
While Wisconsin students continue to comprise the majority of freshmen, the class of 2015 also includes students from Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Oregon and California.
