College Hosts 'Windows of Worlds' Community Art Installation, Festival

  • Monday, Jan 9, 2012

Madison, Wis. (September 12, 2011) - Edgewood College, with the student art organization GESWERK, hosts 'Windows of Worlds.' This city-wide art endeavor in designed to expose the power of collaborative creativity when exercised in the community. Students from the College, and from area highs schools, have been given the curious chance to define themselves through the creative viewpoint of a picture frame. These 'Windows' are on display on campus this week.

These frames, each uniquely designed, are hung with fishing line from the beautiful fall-colored trees of campus, giving the surreal impression that these windows are floating. The 'windows' are a gallery in motion, swaying as limitless proof to the possibilities of what the community can collectively accomplish through art. The work offers an opportunity to see the world in a different way, peering through the 'window' of someone other than ourselves.

A special celebration will be held from Noon-8:00 pm, Saturday, September 17, on campus. The 'Windows Festival' features musical performances by Natty Nation, the UW Madhatters, and much more. The event is free.
