Madison, Wis. (September 8, 2011) - The Edgewood College Student Nurses Association, accompanied by faculty members of the School of Nursing at the College, will be staffing a "Run Aid Station" for the Madison Ironman race on Sunday, September 11th. The racers will not be the only folks who benefit from their efforts.
Since the students will "captain" the station, they'll be awarded $750.00 to make a charitable donation. The Student Nurses Association has earmarked these funds to go to supplies for the Meriter Health Program - a health service provided to Madison's homeless population. Nursing students from the College regularly volunteer for that service.
"This is an excellent demonstration of how we practice our College values of Partnership, Community, and Compassion," said Barb Gallogly, faculty member with the School of Nursing. "Our students excel at taking their work from the classroom to the community. That's just one part of what makes our students so special."
