Madison, Wis. (March 16, 2012) – Edgewood College is pleased to host the 2012 Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) Student Diversity Conference. The event, held this year on March 23 and 24, provides a collaborative forum in which students, faculty and staff can learn about differences, discuss diversity related issues, and create an action plan for their own campuses and communities.

The Wisconsin Private College Initiative for Diversity Conference (WPCID) originated at Carthage College in the fall of 2004. It was inspired by the vision of a Carthage graduate, Derrick Collins, who modeled the conference after the American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin System.  For 2012, the WPCID Conference has been renamed the WAICU Student Diversity Conference.

The more than 150 attendees will attend sessions and workshops designed to strengthen relationships among diverse groups within their communities, provide experiences that will serve as models for building cross-cultural communities, and motivate participants to advocate for diversity- related programs and activities at each WAICU institution.
