The weekend of March 23-25th, 2012 one of the College’s largest student organizations, Circle K, attended their annual Wisconsin Upper-Michigan District Convention in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.  Each year Circle K clubs from across the Wisconsin Upper-Michigan District come together to celebrate, reflect, and received recognition for their dedication. At the 2012 District Convention, Edgewood Circle K represented the College well, bringing home numerous awards and honors for their hard work.  Circle K International is the largest collegiate service organization in the world. Circle K engages college students to become servant leaders in their communities.

This year, both the club and individual Edgewood College students received numerous honors. Margo Edge, a junior, was honored as the Outstanding Club Secretary award.  Samantha Brown received the Outstanding Freshman Member Award.  Molly Streicher received a Senior Award for her dedication to Circle K, and sophomore Alicia Castillo brought home the Outstanding Club Webpage Award for her efforts as Club Webmaster this year.  Junior Jackie Erzinger received a $1,000 Alan R. Anderson Scholarship, and also received the Outstanding District Chairperson Award, for her work as the Wisconsin Upper-Michigan District’s Awards, Regulation and History Chairperson this year.

The club received the honor of the Outstanding Kiwanis Family Relation Award.  This award is given to clubs who demonstrate an intense commitment and partnership with other branches of the Kiwanis Family, like Kiwanis, Key Club, Aktion Club, Builder’s Club and K-Kids.  Edgewood College also brought home the District Convention Spirit Award for the third year in a row, for demonstrating the most enthusiasm and collective excitement throughout the convention weekend!

The convention also marked the retirement of Cody Schara as the 2011-2012 Wisconsin Upper-Michigan District Governor.  Cody, a junior, led the entire Wisconsin Upper-Michigan District, which consists of twenty-three other Circle K clubs, and helped ensure that all clubs succeeded.  For ‘12-‘13  Cody is officially endorsed to run for International Office, further representing Edgewood College and Circle K.  Margo Edge was also elected as the Capital Division Lieutenant Governor for the ‘12-’13,  overseeing UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and Edgewood College’s Circle K clubs to ensure they grow, succeed and serve their communities.

The College’s Circle K is extremely proud of their work this year and look forward to another service-filled year.  Alicia Castillo will serve as the ‘12-‘13 Circle K Club President, with Vice President Samantha Brown and Secretary Brittany Ollhoff.  Circle K is proud to be able to represent Edgewood College positively at their District Convention through their spirit, service and numerous honors.
