Madison, Wis. (April 2, 2013) – Edgewood College recently announced appointments in academic leadership that will further enhance the student experience well into the future. “These are exciting times,” Vice President for Academic Affairs Dean Pribbenow said. “I am thrilled that these two academic officers will play an important role in our pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning.” Dr. Kelley Grorud, a professor at the College, has been named the new Associate Academic Dean for Teaching and Learning. Dr. Timothy Slekar has been named Dean of the School of Education.
After a national search, Dr. Grorud emerged as the strongest selection for Associate Academic Dean for Teaching and Learning. She holds both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2011 she was honored with Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching award. Her proven commitment to the College’s Mission and Values, her collaborative work style, and her thoughtful approach to the myriad responsibilities of the position are among the numerous strengths identified by those involved in the search process.
Dr. Slekar is currently Head of the Division of Education, Human Development and Social Sciences at Penn State University-Altoona. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland - College Park and M.Ed. from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Slekar’s knowledge and experience, and his demonstrated commitment to evidence-based policies and decisions about K-12 education, make him the best choice to lead the School of Education at Edgewood College.
