Assembly of freshmen

Madison, Wis. (August 21, 2014) – This year’s freshman class of nearly three hundred students arrives Saturday, August 23. This year’s group continues a trend of both increasing diversity and a rising academic profile.

Eighteen percent of this year’s class self-identify as students of color, and the overall academic profile of this year’s group is the highest in the history of the College. Academic measures include both ACT scores and grade point average.

“We are honored that these outstanding students and their families continue to tour our campus, meet with professors, talk with current students, and realize that Edgewood College is the right fit for them,” said Christine Benedict, Vice President for Enrollment Management. “They see that we are a place that welcomes all students who reflect the communities we serve. These young people recognize the opportunities we offer to connect learning in the classroom with what’s happening in our world.”

While Wisconsin students continue to comprise the majority of freshmen, the class of 2018 also includes students from Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Florida, and Arizona.
