College Presents Dream Week to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Madison, Wis. (January 15, 2019) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce a series of educational and cultural events to commemorate the life and work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

DREAM Week: UNITY begins with an opening ceremony featuring a keynote address by Dr. Phyllis Esposito, Director of the Center for Multicultural Education at Edgewood College.

Dr. Esposito is an experienced public school educator, and most recently served as a member of the faculty at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Dr. Esposito holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from the University of Kansas.

The ceremony and keynote take place at 4:00 pm, Monday, February 4, 2019, in Anderson Auditorium. Tickets are not required, and Greater Madison is warmly invited.

Other DREAM Week: UNITY events include:

  • Hosting students from Madison’s East High School for a special day on campus on Feb. 5.
  • A screening followed by a discussion of the Spike Lee film “BlacKkKlansman” on Feb. 6.
  • Black Professionals panel discussion presented by the Black Student Union at Edgewood College on Feb. 7.
  • The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Banquet, recognizing students of color and student organizations at Edgewood College on Feb. 8.
