Norman, Okla. (July 18, 2019) – The Edgewood College Men’s Golf team got it done both on the course and in the classroom during the 2018-19 season. The Eagles were rewarded for the latter this week, as the Golf Coaches
Association of America announced the 2018-19 Outstanding Academic Award Winners. The Eagles were one of just 32 programs nationally (at all levels) to receive the Presidents Special Recognition Honor, finishing with a
team GPA of 3.5 and above.

Edgewood College was one of just eight Division III programs to be recognized with the Presidents Special Recognition Honor. The other programs were highlighted by Augsburg, who won the Academic National Championship.
The six other Division III programs that performed at an elite level academically were Kalamazoo, Swarthmore, UT-Dallas, Wabash, Washington & Lee, and Webster.

“I’m so proud of these guys – they worked hard all year combining a very successful Men’s Golf season with academic success,” Gary Oftedahl, head coach, said. “They ‘bought into’ school along with golf as we discussed
this potential outcome all year. I’m thrilled for each team member, they really pulled together for this success.”

The honor was the second-ever Presidents Award for the Eagles, each coming in the last few years; they were also recognized for the 2014-15 season for excellence in and out of the classroom.

The 2018-19 Eagles Men’s Golf team who achieved this great academic honor were Matthew Davidson, Jackson Eversoll, Josh Hentrich, Dawson Hinz, Jensen Peck, and Taylor Ryman.
