Madison, Wis. (September 30, 2020) – Edgewood College is honored to announce a new partnership with the School of Applied Science and Engineering Technology at Madison College. Both institutions have approved transfer
pathways that will allow students in select technical programs to transfer to Edgewood College to complete a bachelor’s degree in Physics.
The approved programs at Madison College are Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Technology, Electromechanical Technology, and Automated Manufacturing Systems
Technology.
“These pathways are designed for students who are interested technical careers, but also want the benefits of a liberal arts education,” Rachael Lancor, Associate Professor of Physics at Edgewood College, said. “A
liberal arts education teaches future technical leaders problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a variety of academic disciplines. This cross-training helps our graduates collaborate effectively in an
increasingly interdisciplinary workforce. Liberal arts educated STEM practitioners also benefit from superior written and oral communication skills, which are invaluable to employers.”
The new transfer pathways are flexible and acknowledge the academic value of coursework taken at Madison College. Students in these programs will qualify for a reduced set of general education requirements, making it
possible for them to finish their bachelor’s degree at Edgewood College in as little as two years.
In addition to the new transfer pathways, all Physics students at Edgewood College are able to take courses in these program areas and transfer credits back to fulfill major requirements. These technical courses complement
the traditional physics courses offered at Edgewood College, and help to prepare students for careers in STEM fields.###
