“It was a bit of a challenge when I started. But I’m a student now.” When Chuck Monzon was finishing high school, he had “no idea” what he wanted to do next, he just knew it wasn’t going to college. His mother jokingly suggested the military; in a surprise move, he joined the U.S. Air Force.

Madison, Wis. (February 18, 2016) – Mark Kennedy, a senior Theatre Arts major from Saint Paul, Minn., was honored with three awards from the 2016 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) for his work on Woods of Weaver specialty props. Mark won the Society of Properties Artisan Managers Award for Craft Excellence at ACTF Region III, the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Award, and the Regional Allied Design and Technology Award. As a result, Mark is attending the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas for one week of intensive study with some of the country’s best prop masters.

At the start of the New Year, even before classes resumed, students at Edgewood College (with a little help from Dining Services) donated more than $5,000 in food to two local food banks.

An acclaimed young artist whose work explores the impermanence of her childhood in the foster care system, Tyanna J. Buie reclaims and rewrites her own experiences. She considers herself to be “fortunate to find my voice, creative vision, and a connection with the outside world through the making of images.”
